FONTS
QUESTION & ANSWERS
There are over 100 fonts that
ship with the Lettering Delights Supreme CD-ROM. Here are some common
questions and answers regarding TrueType fonts:
Q: What
is the difference between Alphabets and fonts?
A: A
font is installed into your Windows system, and is accessed in the same
place as the other Windows fonts (Arial, Courier, Times Roman, etc.) within
your desktop publishing and word processing program. In
order for the TrueType fonts to be available for use in your word processor,
they must first be installed to your computer's hard drive.
An Alphabet is a set of individual graphics which
can be previewed in the Image Browser and can either be printed directly
from the Image Browser or copied and pasted into your word processor.
Q: Are the Lettering
Delights fonts similar to Windows fonts?
A: Lettering Delights fonts are identical to the other
fonts in your Windows system. Almost all Windows applications that use
fonts will be able to use your Lettering Delights fonts. Once a font is
installed, you will be able to select it in your Windows program.
Q: Why do my TrueType
fonts appear in black and white only?
A: All TrueType fonts are black and white. However, most
word processors allow you to choose a color for fonts. Note that this
will usually only color the font outline and will not fill in any spaces.
Q: How do I use TrueType
fonts in my document?
A: Select a font style from your word-processor/desktop-publishing
font list. This option is usually found in the top-left side of the window,
below the File and Edit commands. After you select a font
style, select a size in the size list, usually found just to the right
of the font list. All the Lettering Delight font names begin with the
letters "LD" or "IG" (for Scrap fonts).
Q: Can I edit a Lettering
Delight font?
A: Some programs will let you make basic changes to a
font, such as altering its size, color and line thickness. Other more
advanced programs (such as CorelDRAW!) will let you convert your font
to curves or outlines. From there, you can edit your font, just as you
would any other graphic image. Please consult the user's manual for your
program to see what specific font editing abilities it has.
Q: How can I tell the Lettering
Delights fonts are installed on my system?
A: Go to your windows
fonts folder to see if they are installed. To get there click on Start
- Settings - Control Panel - Fonts (for Windows XP go straight from Start
to the Control Panel). Inside the fonts folder you can scroll down to
see if your fonts are installed. If they are not, go back into the LD
Supreme installation and select the option to reinstall just the fonts.
